GENERAL SUMMARY :

Provides constant, real-time video monitoring for patients in need of continuous monitoring in order to enhance patient safety. Patients identified as those who are at high risk for fall, are confused, or are ambulatory patients at risk for injury. Serves as the first line of action to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors and communicates with the nursing staff directly if the patient requires assistance, as needed. Monitors, records and communicates patient activity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Promptly recognize patients discomfort and at risk behaviors, respond, and report as appropriate.

  • Monitors patients’ mobility, speaks directly with patients to encourage them to stay in bed as well as preventing patients from falling from bed.

  • Effectively escalates notification process to appropriate staff as necessary by seeking assistance from the hospital nurse when patient is in need, communicating directly and effectively with unit staff in the event that a patient is at risk for a fall, and also activates established protocol immediately in the event that a patient fall is imminent.

  • Provides excellent customer service to all patients, staff, physicians, and family members.

  • Performs clerical duties (i.e., maintains accurate and up-to-date department logs/records, answering phones, intercom, notify the assigned nurse).

  • Identifies interventions to maintain patient privacy.

  • Works rotating shifts, weekends and holidays, as scheduled.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred and 18 years of age.

  • Previous health care experience, including remote cardiac or fall monitoring experience, desired.

  • Well organized, efficient multi-tasker able to prioritize simultaneous situations.

  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
