Principal Financial Group Retirement Onboarding Leader in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

As a Retirement Onboarding Leader within our onboarding and deconversion services team, you will lead a team of individuals who will engage, educate and support participants and/or plan sponsors during onboarding to Principal.

  • Oversee and lead an onboarding team to assist in promoting plans or products and services of Principal; analyze and understand participant and/or plan sponsor needs, prepare and present solutions, and establish appropriate service experience consistent with department and compliance guidelines and quality standards. This includes leading daily operations of a team of onboarding specialists who interact with participants and/or plan sponsors in a manner that engages them in their retirement planning and meets business goals at an acceptable cost. Direct and allocate resources to support workload and processes. May oversee team members who work remotely.

  • Select, lead, coach and motivate team to further their development and utilize their capabilities. This includes maximizing team performance through effective selection, team building, training, coaching, performance management and salary administration. Provide ongoing feedback for improvement. Ensure staff is equipped with necessary business literacy and competency development. Celebrate success of individuals and team.

  • Identify and analyze escalated problems and provide guidance to team members for resolution. Use creativity, problem-solving skills, and in-depth product knowledge to successfully negotiate solutions and act as liaison with internal and external customers when necessary.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff throughout the business unit and the company in order to identify and understand objectives; plan accordingly, and implement solutions to improve effectiveness. Understand workloads and ensure optimal staff model is maintained to achieve all key performance metrics.

  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, plus 6+ years related work experience, including at least 2 of those years were within a supervisory position.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication; decision-making, analysis, organizational, problem solving, time management, and relationship building skills required.

  • Knowledge of retirement plans, products, procedures, resources and regulations required.

  • Must have ability to balance working independently with working in a team environment to meet customer needs and achieve overall RIS goals.

  • Investment Company and Variable Contracts Representative registration may be required within 12 months.

  • Must be a self-starter who can work independently and with people at all job levels.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$95200 - $182400 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
