Job Title: Construction Laborer

Job Description

As a Construction Laborer, you will play a crucial role in preparing construction sites, handling materials, supporting tradespeople, performing earthwork, and maintaining safety and cleanliness. Your role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing construction sites by clearing debris, digging trenches, and setting up scaffolding.

• Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment, and transport them to designated areas.

• Support skilled tradespeople such as carpenters, masons, and plumbers with their tasks.

• Perform tasks such as compacting earth, laying foundations, and constructing retaining walls.

• Follow all health and safety regulations and set up warning signs and barriers to ensure site safety.

• Operate and maintain construction equipment and tools, including power tools and machinery.

• Keep the construction site clean and organized and dispose of waste materials properly.

• Take measurements and perform basic calculations to assist in construction tasks.

Essential Skills

• 1-2 years of construction experience.

• 1-2 years of Heavy Equipment Operation (HEO).

• OSHA 10 certification.

• Experience with digging, construction, paving, and concrete form.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a construction laborer or in a similar role.

• Familiarity with construction tools and equipment.

• Good physical condition, stamina, and strength.

• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

• Basic understanding of construction safety practices.

Work Environment

You will work in teams ranging from 2-3 people to over 10, depending on the project. On-site, you will report to the project foreman. The work schedule typically runs from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with flexibility required for start and finish times. Overtime is common during the busy season, potentially adding 10-15+ hours per week. Occasionally, overnight work may be required. The role involves working 100% outside.

This is a Contract position based out of Depew, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
