Job Summary

This position is responsible for the direction, performance measurement and goals as they relate to UGI’s damage prevention and public awareness programs. This position will lead a team dedicated to continuous improvement in the areas of stakeholder education (internal and external), safe digging and cross bore awareness.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote Safe Digging and 811 awareness with various external stakeholder groups and internal Staff through the use of metrics, programs and by drawing on participation in industry leading roles to influence and establish policy, procedures and law.

  • Manage the consultant service for enhancing the internal ICS understanding and application for escalating emergency situations along with training and outreach to emergency management services related to natural gas safety. Premise is to enhance the working relationship with UGI Staff and the Public Sector in unplanned emergencies and natural disasters by applying ICS and NIMS when required. This includes RTUE, PAM – Public Awareness Manager, Paradigm and UGI’s Shared View Continuing Education module.

  • Provide education and oversight with UGI’s in-house locate Staff through the use of Training modules, Root Cause Calls, Damage Investigations and Field Inspections.

  • Promote UGI and UGI Pipeline & Public safety objectives through various Industry Associations and activities such as AGA, CGA/DPI, EAPA, CBSA, One Call, Committees & Task Forces and through public speaking engagements and presentations.

  • Manage the legacy Cross Bore program and related public awareness and tracking requirements such as the PA One Call “Call Before You Clear” and UGI’s Cross Bore Bounty Hunter program.

  • Manage relationship with third party vendors for ticket management and system related issues to continue to improve UGI’s ticket response processing and communications.

  • Underground Utility Line Protection Act of 1974 as amended (One Call Law)

  • CGA Best Practices

  • North American Society of Trenchless Technology – HDD Good Practices

  • UGI Gas Operations Manual, specifically 60.40 Damage Prevention & 60.60 Public Awareness Programs

  • FEMA Incident Command Structure

  • 49 CFR Federal Code

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Technical Area such as Engineering

  • 5-10 years Utility Industry or equivalent experience

  • FEMA ICS 100 & 200
