Felsburg Holt & Ullevig Traffic Data Engineer - AM0005 in Denver, Colorado

Felsburg Holt & Ullevig is seeking a self-starting and enthusiastic Traffic Data Engineer with strong interest and experience in data analysis to join our Advanced Mobility team. This position requires demonstrated success and interest in transportation, traffic, and advanced mobility services. We are seeking a technically oriented engineer with skills in data analytics. The engineer will work on statewide, regional, city, corridor, and agency transportation sustainability and electrification plans, mobility service assessments, feasibility studies, and research projects. Projects may include transportation electrification plans, agency emissions dashboards, construction emissions projects, ITS device deployment and analysis, and mobility service analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop data analytics to evaluate sustainability and electrification transportation investment impacts/benefits and to support transportation planning decisions

  • Conduct statistical analyses to extract insights from the data and communicate findings

  • Guide strategic decisions and insights with experimentation and in-depth data analyses

  • Build utilization models that help optimize client decisions

  • Leverage data visualization tools to make data insights accessible to all

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings

  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications

  • Understanding of and experience with processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis

  • Develop and implement spatial models and algorithms to analyze patterns, trends, and relationships within geographical datasets

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate spatial analysis into broader data-driven decision-making processes

  • Utilize GIS software and visualization tools to generate interactive and informative maps for presentations and reports

  • Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical terms

  • Proficient understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and ETL processes

  • Prepare a variety of documents including plan reports, technical memoranda, correspondence, and digital engagement content

  • Work with other engineers, planners, landscape architects, and environmental scientists on multidisciplinary transportation projects

  • Participate in client, technical group, stakeholder, and public meeting discussions and presentations

  • Support business development with proposal review, proposal development and writing

  • Communicate effectively with clients and other staff members

  • Other duties may be assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Traffic emphasis, or a related field

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in transportation/traffic engineering, data analytics, or a related field

  • Proven experience in using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)

  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and their applications

  • Experience in developing and implementing databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Highly organized with experience independently managing tasks or projects

  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS is needed

The pay for this position has a range of $78,000 - $115,000 annually. The actual offer will carefully consider a range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
