Entry Level Drafter

Job Summary

POWER Engineers is seeking a Drafter to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Denver office located in Lakewood, Colorado.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The position entails drafting and design opportunities on substation projects that include physical layout drawings as well as schematics and wiring diagrams

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for learning, understanding, and implementing CAD knowledge; learning client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards, procedures, and processes; collaborating on design issues; and seeking guidance from those with more experience

Required Education/Experience

  • Associate's degree in drafting (or equivalent technical degree)

  • Experience using AutoCAD 2000 and/or newer versions, preferably in an engineering work environment

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills will be critical for completing tasks.

  • The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with other team members

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship

Desired Education/Experience

  • Experience with CAD Overlay and MicroStation

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel

  • Knowledge of substation electrical schematics and wiring diagrams is beneficial

  • Good background in mathematics

  • Experience working with scaled drawings

  • Reliable self-starter who takes ownership of assigned tasks

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $22-$27 per hour; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
