Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Finance and Accounting will be a leader within the North American Asset Management Department at RES. The Sr. Manager will manage a team responsible for all the Finance and Accounting duties for client-owned renewable projects (wind, solar, and battery storage) located throughout North America.

Requirements:

  • Oversees and is responsible for finance, accounting, and treasury functions assisting with the operations and asset management of renewable projects (wind, solar, and battery storage).

  • Manages day-to-day accounting, general entries, accruals, allocations, month-end closing procedures, period-end adjustments, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.

  • Processes and records fixed asset additions, disposals, adjustments, depreciation, and other vital items.

  • Manages quarterly and annual financial reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and project company (“SPV”) level forecasting.

  • Manages bank accounts, cash flow forecasting, cash distributions, credit support, and project borrowings reconciliations.

  • Coordinates financial audits by liaising directly with asset-managed asset owners, tax advisors, and audit partners to ensure compliance and accuracy.

  • Collaborates with the Asset Management team to oversee revenue settlement with ISO, analyzing, optimizing, and controlling processes that impact customer quality and enhance internal operational efficiency. Prepares and maintains project financial models, providing quarterly updates to ensure accuracy and alignment with finance projections.

  • Collaborates with the Tax Department to prepare and file federal and provincial tax returns, ensuring timely tax payments.

  • Assists in the preparation and submission of tax exemption applications for project owners, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Works with asset managers and cross-functional teams to prepare comprehensive reports for clients.

  • Oversees and fulfills managerial obligations under project financing agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and financial requirements.

  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.

  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.

  • Interacts with investor-owners responsively and professionally.

  • Assists with project bidding, and contract negotiations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree Finance and Accounting required.

  • Certification CFA/CPA/MBA or any other relevant financialdesignation is a plus preferred.

  • 7+ years or more progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting role required.

  • 3+ years or more related managerial experience required.

  • Renewables industry experience: Big Four background preferable preferred.

  • Comprehensive understanding of both accounting (IFRS, GAAP, audits, accruals, internal controls) and finance (budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis)

  • Strategic thinker who can contribute to the development and delivery of Asset Management department goals.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a multi-departmental environment and build relationships with external stakeholders.

  • High level of professionalism, results-oriented, organized, highly motivated, and detailed

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate with cross­ functional teams at all levels of staff and management.

  • Proven track record of performing with a high degree of accuracy and meeting tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.

  • Proven ability to interact with and influence across all levels of the organization.

  • Self-starter who can manage projects so that areas of most significant risk are reviewed, and issues are covered by management.

  • Ability to prepare executive-level summaries, conclusions, and recommendations based on detailed data. Equally adept at searching, cleansing, and compiling the necessary data from multiple systems and sources.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects often coinciding with quick turnaround requirements.

  • Robust financial analysis and modeling skills to identify business drivers and summarize key business insights.

  • Computer literacy, excellent abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint need specific functions (pivot tables, v-lookup, etc.)

  • Functional competencies include business acumen, collaboration, continuous improvement, accountability, and communication.

  • Valid Drivers License required no.

  • Domestic and International travel 5-15%.

Anticipated base salary range: $142,000 - $167,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
