Xcellent Technology Solutions GIS Software Developer in Denver, Colorado

As a Hydrology Software Developer at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), you play a critical role in advancing our understanding of water resources and environmental sustainability. Your work involves creating and maintaining software tools that enable hydrologic modeling, data analysis, and decision-making.

As a 3DHP Software Developer, you contribute to the development of 3D hydrologic models to help predict how hydrologic systems respond to changing conditions. Your expertise in Python, software architecture, data handling, and software development practices is crucial for advancing hydrologic science and environmental stewardship.  You’ll be writing and implementing code based on specifications and design patterns, integrating software components to meet project specifications. You’ll utilize Python, Pandas, NumPy, and ArcGIS for data-intensive modeling, workflows, and visualizations and design back-end and front-end algorithms in an agile setting to provide clean, efficient code and troubleshoot, debug, update, and maintain existing software to enhance and ensure optimal performance. You’ll ensure that software aligns with internal business requirements or external customer needs and provide quality assurance procedures through standardized testing, and develop fixes when issues arise.

Requirements:

  • Ability to create viable code in Python  

  • Verifiable experience in back-end python architecture capabilities

  • Ability to utilize Pandas to handle large datasets

  • Able to leverage NumPy for numerical computations

  • Experience utilizing ArcGIS to extract geospatial data

  • Able to enhance visualizations and analysis with ArcPro

  • Leverage GeoDatabases to efficiently store spatial data

  • Ability to use Shapefiles to extract geographic feature data

  • Leverage .NET for cross-platform development

  • Ability to utilize C++ to optimize performance-critical software components

Salary Range: 

$75,000 - $85,000
