UnitedHealth Group Clinical Admin Nurse Consultant RN - Remote in Denver, Colorado

Position in this function is responsible for reviewing of root cause of problems, issues, develop plans in collaboration with others and implement plans for process improvement. Demonstrated ability to lead others and to think outside of conventional processes. Possess knowledge of research techniques, data analysis and reporting, forward/strategic planning and integration of technologies within staff development initiatives. Knowledgeable about regulatory requirements such as OSHA and regulatory/accrediting requirements. Principles of adult learning and education. Epidemiology principles and concepts of infection prevention and nursing theory.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manages resources to maximize productivity and quality

  • Develops and maintains strategic partnerships within the community

  • Takes responsibility for data collection, performance improvement activities and reports

  • Subject matter expert on clinical compliance and regulatory standards

  • Assess Optum Care Ambulatory Practices to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies

  • Ensures policies and procedures are being followed

  • This position is 75% traveling to and being in clinics and requires a self-directed, team-oriented professional

Practice Health & Safety

  • Conducts Practice Health & Safety Assessments at Optum’s ambulatory practice sites

  • Ensures complete and accurate documentation of assessments and corrective action plans

  • Coordinates with practice staff on remediation activities surrounding identified opportunities for improvement, from initiation through completion

  • Provides subject matter expertise and guidance related to patient safety, regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, and evidence-based practice

  • Assists in developing and delivering training, education, and targeted support to practice staff as applicable

  • Proactively identifies support opportunities surrounding practice health and safety, clinical compliance, and quality improvement

  • Conducts due diligence assessments at prospective practice sites as directed

  • Program support functions and other duties as needed

  • Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of federal and state regulations, standards, and guidelines

Education

  • Creates, implements and evaluates education, special projects and quality programs

  • Implements and leads staff development activities

  • Develops and teaches comprehensive curriculum

  • Provides staff orientation

  • Analyzes research and current practice to ensure adherence to evidence-based practice

  • Supports/Leads process improvement processes

Infection Prevention

  • Leads infection prevention and control activities

  • Provides surveillance, analysis, trending and reporting of infections

  • Monitors quality of patient care, in an out-patient environment, utilizing the nursing process

  • Identifies and assesses the appropriateness and safety of care for known and potential. problems; evaluates outcomes

  • Develops policies and procedures that meet regulatory agency compliance and standards of care

  • Serves as a knowledgeable and available resource for infection prevention/employee health for colleagues, staff, surveyors and other regulators

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma and/or equivalent

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, nursing or related field

  • Active unrestricted RN license in the state of Colorado

  • 3+ years clinical nursing experience

  • Proven excellent oral and written communication and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated skills in performance improvement process, program development, project management, computer technology, database development and management and instruction design.Proficient in field of nursing practice and possess independent clinical skills

  • Willing to travel 75% of time in clinic environment.May occasionally work flexible hours to meet needs of clinic staff that are scheduled to work 7 days/week, 24 hours/day

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education and/or infection prevention experience

  • Graduate degree in healthcare or nursing related field or currently enrolled in a graduate program

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and OLA (Office Laboratory Assistant)

  • 5+ years clinical nursing experience

  • Emergency or other critical care experience

  • Significant experience in a regulatory/compliance role within healthcare operations

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $70,200 to $137,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
