Sales Representative - Fresh Pork

Summary:

This position, reporting to a Director of Business Management, is focused on building both new and existing relationships within the fresh pork segment. Functioning as a conduit between customers and our internal operations, i.e. Quality Assurance, Operations, Demand Planning, etc., they're responsible for a designated account list and are expected to grow both volume and margin in line with corporate objectives. This individual is part of a growing sales team and is integral in moving our business forward. The environment and overall marketplace is fast paced, ever changing, and requires significant attention to detail to perform at the highest level.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and enhance relationships with assigned customers and key targets.
  • Primary contact for designated accounts, and responsible for resolving issues related to price, products, inventory deliveries, potential quality concerns, etc. The forward-facing contact to our customer within Fresh Pork.
  • Negotiate daily offerings with the expectation that they meet or exceed corporate performance targets
  • Organize and deliver daily pricelists.
  • Order entry and evaluation to ensure accuracy across product pricing and availability.
  • Evaluation of total deliveries across designated region to ensure truckload weights are maximized for efficiency.
  • Utilize product knowledge to generate sales while maximizing return to the company.
  • Identifying customer needs and matching current product portfolio to said needs.
  • Potential development of new accounts within designated market segment.
  • Work closely with internal operations; marketing, operations, quality assurance, product management, etc. to align customer demands with internal capabilities.
  • Foster strong communications both internally and externally, ensuring they receive vital information in a timely manner.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as required or needed.

Qualifications:

Associates or bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Animal Science, Meat Science or any related field OR 4+ years of experience as a meat sales representative selling fresh or processed meat / protein to retail, foodservice and wholesalers.

Minimum of 2-5 years as a meat sales representative experience selling fresh or process meat (protein) to retail, foodservice and/ or wholesalers.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Knowle ge of CPG industry and domestic network of wholesalers and food service distributors that make up the national pipeline.

Ability to formulate accurate sales quotes to ensure maximum profitability.

Proficient in pork commodity market evaluation, relative meaning in current marketplace, and how to apply in direct sales conversations.

Knowledge of industry related products and the relative production process is required.

Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Ability to lead by example and follow company policies and ethical standards.

Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Must have independent and reliable transportation.

Ability to travel unrestricted and/or on short notice.
