Mercy Health Surgery Scheduler in Defiance, Ohio
Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Reports to the Surgical Services Manager and is responsible for charging function for the Surgical, Recovery Room, Pre-Surgical and Anesthesia Departments. Responsible for scheduling a wide variety of surgical procedures in a computer based scheduling system. Responsible for patient charges ensuring accuracy for a continued revenue stream for SRMC. Performs clerical support for the operating room department, post anesthesia care unit and same day surgery unit.
Essential Job Functions
Incorporates all factors to accurately enact scheduling of surgical procedures, utilizing EMR
Enacts and monitors patient charges, reviewing and processing these charges utilizing EMR
Checks Surgery schedule daily to ensure all charges are accounted for per patient
Gathers and summarizes various statistics and reports by use of the computer
Communications (telephone and in-person) Functions as center of communication for surgery scheduling
Responds to other departments inquiries regarding surgery schedules and billing
Ensure the patient charges are complete and accurate by verifying: procedures, items and times
Ensures the surgery schedule is accurate and complete
