Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Shelter Manager to oversee the operations of our animal shelter. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and possess strong leadership skills to manage staff and ensure the well-being of animals in our care.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations
- Oversee the daily care and welfare of animals, including feeding, cleaning, and medical care
- Develop and implement protocols for animal intake and adoption in accordance with organizational policies and best practices
- Maintain accurate records of animal intake, adoptions, and medical treatments
- Manage shelter inventory, including food, supplies, and equipment
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and animal welfare standards
- Coordinate with veterinarians, rescue groups, and other partners to maximize resources and support for animals
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and adoption applications in a professional and compassionate manner
- Assist with fundraising, outreach, and community engagement efforts as needed
- Responsible for preparing/publishing weekly schedule and ensure proper staffing at all times -- including call offs.
- Manage online social media accounts including regular postings.
- Ensure shelter management software/website/adoption sites are updated regularly with new animal pictures and descriptions.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with animals in a rescue or shelter environment
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and empower staff
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards animals and people
- Knowledge of animal behavior, health, and welfare issues
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and record-keeping software
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary range: $40,000 - $50,000 per year

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Weekends as needed
