About You and This Role:
The Dow Chemical Company has a challenging opportunity for a Laboratory Technician located in our Lone Star Operations owned by Rohm and Haas, a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, and is proud to operate and be a partner in the Deer Park and LaPorte, TX communities. Laboratory Technicians perform a variety of tasks as required in the operation of the Lone Star Site. In this role you will perform routine analyses, evaluates the results, and calibrates and maintains analytical systems to provide analytical data to produce and release products. We will provide all necessary tools and training.
Responsibilities:
Follow the Analytical Work Process (AWP), and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures and practices.
Screen service requests for value and alignment with goals.
Route requests originating within the unit to the appropriate service provider.
Perform basic calibration and maintenance of analytical systems and calibration
Perform routine analyses.
Use electronic tools such as LIMS, CDS, SAP, Electronic Logbook, and MTL, as required.
Evaluate validity of data, apply basic statistics, interpret results, and take appropriate action.
Monitor analytical systems, identify problems, conduct first-line troubleshooting, and escalate as appropriate.
Document, communicate and archive analytical results and calibration data.
Suggest and implement improvements to the EH&S and ODMS procedures, and analytical work processes and tools
Participate in the raw material and finished product retainer management system.
Participate as an immediate response leader for the department
Troubleshoot lab process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems and identify equipment requiring maintenance
Participate in daily meetings
Maintain housekeeping
Participate on Empowered teams
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent AND one of the following are required: Two or more years of experience working in an industrial lab experience or as a Production Technician/Chemical Operator/Process Operator in a Chemical Manufacturing plant or 12 hours of college chemistry.
Must have the ability to work independently, responsible for maintaining operations during long shifts, often working alone up to 12 hours at a time.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as Chemistry or Biology is preferred.
An associates degree in Process Technology is preferred.

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
Stand 50% of the time.
Walk for extended periods of time.
Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator.
Work in an area with hazardous materials.
Able to meet physical requirements for the emergency response team.
Required to be able to lift 20 lbs.
