Job Description

Join our team for a project in Decatur, IL at a grain processing facility. This medium to large-scale project involves installing 3,000 feet of 24" stainless steel pipe for a new building.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install pipes

  • Layout and interpret blueprints to complete installations

  • Cut pipes using handheld and power tools such as hammers, chisels, cutting torches, pipe cutters, and pipe cutting machines

  • Thread and bend pipes using pipe bending tools and threading machines

  • Assemble and install tubes, fittings, and non-metallic attachments

  • Join pipes using threads, soldering, brazing, or cemented connections

  • Inspect piping systems and machinery to detect malfunctions

  • Create protective layers for pipes using paints and other mechanisms

  • Operate large oversized forklifts to lift pipes, support equipment, and heavy materials

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints

  • 4+ years of experience as a pipefitter

  • Ability to verify blueprints off field measurements

  • Ability to layout pipe runs from a print

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in welding and fabrication

  • Knowledge of industrial piping systems

Work Environment

The work will be performed in an ethanol plant located in a large industrial park, which can be dirty due to grain production and may have occasional odors. The team consists of one foreman and four fitters, with a culture focused on teamwork, cohesion, and exceeding production goals. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, jeans, hard hats, safety glasses, and work gloves. Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 4 PM, with a minimum of 50 hours per week, subject to change.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
