Ford Motor Company OBD Calibration Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

OBD Calibration Engineer positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI). Exercise independence and autonomy to develop, test, and validate gas/diesel powertrain On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) calibrations, which meet regulatory requirements & emissions standards while achieving world-class fuel economy and drivability targets. Perform testing required to calibrate OBDII features to meet all monitoring requirements, including emission laboratory testing (off hours) and on development test trips.  Responsible to perform and document required OBDII regulatory signoff and Self-Certification testing.  Manipulate and utilize large and complex sets of engine mapping data to analyze and solve system problems as they relate to engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, OBD, and base engine calibration development.  Work closely with cross-functional activities (PMT, Algorithm suppliers, Controls, V-engine, Ford Performance, PTAI D&R, CAE, Research, Climate Control, P/T cooling, VI,...) to deliver all Calibration attributes on time & with high quality, develop monitor improvements, or emission countermeasures.  Modify vehicle and powertrain control calibrations to improve & optimize performance, emissions, and diagnostics.  Plan, generate, and verify feature calibrations in hot climate, cold climate, and high altitude conditions in accordance with powertrain system functional objectives.  Serve as a mentor for more junior team members to support/deliver OBD Calibration Process improvements (Calibration Direction, Calibration Release Error-proofing (APR), tools/scripts for processing data, etc.) and integrate best practices.  Use models and simulation to reduce testing and optimize powertrain calibrations.  Ensure that OBD required Deterioration Factors are properly monitored and modeled.  Perform failure mode analysis, root causing issues diagnostic analysis, and testing for emission related components.  Document progress and methods used to calibrate and validate monitors within scope of responsibility.
