Your Opportunity

You will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and technologists on multiple projects for a range of public and private sector clients. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.

  • Prepare contract drawings, specifications, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.

  • Perform 3D CAD modeling and drafting of work product.

  • Perform basic calculations to analyze and design mechanical systems using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

  • Facilitate and ensure the quality of the project deliverables.

  • Follow production guidelines and project standards according to drafting standards.

  • Provide CAD drafting and design assistance for a wide variety of projects, from concept stage through design and construction administration.

  • Coordinate with other professionals on assigned projects.

  • Assist in the production of cost estimates including quantity take-offs.

  • Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer.

  • Assist in resolution of technical issues on construction sites.

  • You will be expected to support team operations and play an integral part in the promotion of our health and safety culture.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Thorough understanding of CAD Standards.

  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team.

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.

  • Understanding of machine design, fabrication, and manufacturing concepts.

  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing concepts.

  • Working knowledge of software programs including SolidWorks, AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Adobe Acrobat. Preferred experience with SolidWorks and/or Inventor.

  • Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis and relevant software programs.

  • Experience completing engineering calculations.

  • Strong desire to learn and work in a team environment.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.

  • Eager to learn with strong listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to take direction, follow processes, and accept feedback and suggestions from senior staff.

  • Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

  • Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team.

  • Understand and work within Stantec's quality control guidelines.

  • Liaise with clients and contractors in the execution of the project goals.

  • Comply with Stantec's EH&S program, with a focus on safety in the field.

Education and Experience

  • Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
