  • 3:00pm - 12:00am (Wednesday-Sunday)

  • 11:00pm - 7:00am (Wednesday-Sunday)

We are seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team in the public transport industry, based in Dallas, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our IT systems, ensuring smooth and efficient operations across our organization. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, develop, and document operating procedures for technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and systems administration techniques.

  • Coordinate, plan, and schedule the installation of new or revised systems, defining business process requirements in the process.

  • Conduct training of staff prior to the implementation of systems, providing advice and guidance during and post-implementation.

  • Recommend systems technology solutions and enterprise-related hardware and software standards to management.

  • Assist with budget recommendations for operating systems, including the supporting hardware and software.

  • Assist in the preparation of disaster recovery plans, including responsibilities and procedures.

  • Create and provide regular and ad-hoc reports for supported systems and applications.

  • Provide analysis of the current server environment, recommending and implementing system changes for efficiency and performance.

  • Create automation routines using scripting and other programming languages.

  • Oversee and provide guidance in troubleshooting and solving complex problems related to system software and hardware incident and problem calls.

  • Install, configure, maintain, and administer servers, operating systems, and applications.

  • Maintain Authentication and Access Control systems, Domain Name zones, and Enterprise PKI certificates.

  • Initiate and maintain accurate Change Management workflows.

  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of current environments and application/server security.

  • Follow agency procedures for maintaining hardware and software inventory.

    Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server is required.

  • Must have experience with VMware.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure is necessary.

  • Ability to troubleshoot server hardware, software, application performance monitoring, and capacity planning tools.

  • Experience in automation and scripting.

  • Prior experience in a Systems Administrator role within the Public Transport industry is desirable.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.

  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate effectively with other IT professionals.

  • Understanding of network protocols and network architecture.

  • Familiarity with database management and data backup/recovery procedures.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Commitment to staying updated on current technologies and trends in system administration.

  • Proven experience in system upgrades, security, and backup management.

  • Knowledge of system vulnerabilities and security issues.
