Job Description:
The Texas Schools Project ( TSP ) at the University of Texas at Dallas ( UTD ) is seeking a Research Scientist to join our team. TSP is committed to conducting cutting-edge research in the field of education and strives to improve education outcomes and policies at local, state, and national levels. TSP operates the UTD Education Research Center ( UTD - ERC ), which makes administrative data from the Texas Education Agency, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and Texas Workforce Commission available for research to improve education in Texas.
The Research Scientist will primarily collaborate with faculty and senior researchers to develop, design, and implement education research. As a secondary role, the Researcher will also support the operation and administration of the UTD - ERC .
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of a PhD in a field directly related to research and a minimum of two years of experience/expertise as noted below.
Preferred Education and Experience:

PhD in Economics.
Demonstrated experience building, managing, and working with large, administrative data sets.
Two or more years of experience conducting research involving quasi-experimental designs, advanced statistical methods, and data interpretation.
Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Stata or R) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience presenting complex research findings to nontechnical audiences such as clients, policymakers, and practitioners.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Knowledge of ethical guidelines for research involving human subjects ( IRB protocols) and FERPA
Experience and interest in qualitative research is a plus.
Experience in education research, data collection, or analysis is a plus.
Experience in educational administration or as a classroom teacher is a plus.
Knowledge of server administration and/or Linux is a plus.
