The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Director, Business Development - International Quality and Global Certification in our Quality, Outcomes, Research, Analytics (QORA) department.

This position can be home-based.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice President of International Quality and Global Certification, the Director of International Quality & Certification will develop and implement international QI & Certification programs, projects, and initiatives. This will include but not be limited to GWTG and hospital certification programs and systems of care initiatives, from demonstration projects to actual program implementation outside of the continental US and aligned with the Association’s international strategies as appropriate. This individual will work with health authorities at the system level in the international environment to develop a customized implementation plan that considers the project's resources, infrastructure, and funding support. The Director will also collaborate with Corporate Relations, QORA, and international departments to identify opportunities and secure funding adequate for successful implementation. The Director will be responsible for, but not limited to, the multiple aspects of opportunity development, including assessment, implementation plan development, direct consultation, and evaluation of the project outcome.

They will work to develop a network of volunteers that will represent the Association in the International healthcare environment to cultivate and secure funding sources for international quality improvement initiatives, as well to guide program implementation and evaluation. The Director will create a collaborative environment where staff from various functions work together to achieve results across health, revenue and volunteerism goals for the organization and will provide strategic consultation and support to drive synergy with Association programs and consider business model to support program implementation and growth internationally. When appropriate the Director will manage in country staff directly responsible for program or product implementation.

  • Collaborate in the development and execution of the Global Quality Plan, including developing the business case for ongoing international program implementation.

  • Evaluate the feasibility of the opportunity, considering legal requirements, technology resources, staff resources, administrative support, and funding sources.

  • Maintain a communication loop with the International strategy team to ensure efforts related to Quality & Certification program implementation is aligned with organization's overarching international strategy.

  • Manages response activity related to inquiries for International implementation of Quality & Certification programs.

  • Provide direct consultation to the country team lead during the planning, execution, and evaluation of demonstration and/or implementation projects.

  • In collaboration with the Association’s legal counsel and outside counsel ensure awareness of rules and regulations related to data security and privacy laws related to interested countries.

  • In collaboration with the Manager, Technology Strategy work with vendor in handling data to comply with data security and privacy laws as appropriate to the identified implementation opportunities.

  • Volunteer engagement related to the cultivation of program sponsorship and program development, implementation, and evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Health Care and/or Business.

  • Eight (8) – Twelve (12) of experience.

  • Five years combined experience in either of the following:

  • An acute care hospital working directly on clinical quality or process improvement projects, or

  • A national cardiac or stroke clinical quality improvement program that incorporates data capture within a process improvement framework.

  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, verbal and written) including the ability to communicate complex issues simply and accurately with internal and external audiences.

  • Ability to work, problem solve, and make decisions in a fast-paced, results-driven environment with minimal direct supervision.

  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly to change in a dynamic, high-growth environment and radiate a positive impact to the team.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, organization skills and attention to details.

  • Microsoft Office skills including PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Cardiac, Stroke, Resuscitation, Atrial Fibrillation, Acute MI care knowledge/experience.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% locally and overnight stay.
