Apple is seeking an enthusiastic silicon engineer to join our system design team responsible for the development of iPhone. As a key member of our creative and collaborative engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in silicon based technologies that drive the success of our products, which are utilized by millions of Apple users worldwide. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of silicon development, including the conceptualization of innovative concepts, requirements gathering, design review, validation, and manufacturing data analysis. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and failure analysis to ensure the reliability of our silicon-based solutions. This unique hardware design position encompasses the entire lifecycle of a product, from its conceptualization in silicon to its initial customer shipment and subsequent in-field diagnostic monitoring.

Description

Effective communication is paramount in this role. The candidate will collaborate with a diverse range of cross-functional partners within Apple and external organizations spanning various engineering disciplines to develop new product features and refine existing ones. This position requires a deep understanding and familiarity with system-level aspects of mixed-signal silicon development and execution to ensure the reliability of our silicon-based solutions for high-volume production. The candidate will be expected to drive actions with silicon design teams independently and proactively to meet the system requirements for our high-volume programs. Responsibilities: Develop innovative product features and enhancements for existing ones Plan and architect system/subsystem silicon Distill system requirements into silicon definition Review silicon designs to ensure they meet the documented requirements Bench validate system hardware and software Specify factory tests and review data for said tests ensuring reliable high-volume manufacturing System debugging Occasionally travel in the US and overseas to meet with internal design teams, 3rd party design teams, or our manufacturing teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S or M.S EE Degree with 10 years relevant work experience

  • Familiarity with all aspects of Mixed Signal Silicon development including proven experience in analog design, digital design, and silicon processes

  • Ability to manage complex silicon projects with internal and external silicon design teams including silicon fabs and IC test houses.

  • Lab testing expertise for ASICs on evaluation boards and in systems.

  • Highly motivated, self-starter, able to work well with cross-functional teams in a dynamic work environment.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to guide critical investigations and decisions.

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D EE with minimum 5 years experience.

  • Deep knowledge in DFT, DV, AMS, FA techniques, memory interfaces, power design, low speed and high speed communication interfaces and IC Packaging.

  • Proven experience with mobile product system level partitioning and silicon architecture.

  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, ability to work independently, a desire to mentor, and demonstrated ability to innovate.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
