Description

In this role, you will join a high-energy, collaborative team focused on developing cutting-edge storage technologies for Apple's diverse range of devices. You will leverage your knowledge of operating systems, block storage layers, and application I/O performance to improve storage subsystems and ensure seamless integration with our operating systems. Your responsibilities will include identifying and addressing storage inefficiencies, debugging issues across hardware and software, developing complex analysis tools, and enhancing data collection infrastructure. You will work closely with performance teams to track and resolve application I/O regressions, utilizing data visualization tools to present insights to leadership. Your contributions will help create the fastest and most efficient storage solutions, directly impacting the performance of iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and Macs, and ultimately enriching the user experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Solid C and Python with deep knowledge of data structures and algorithms

  • Knowledge of modern operating systems

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE ( or equivalent, or related field ). MS Preferred.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and data communication skills

  • Proficiency in any of the following programming languages is a bonus: Java, Scala, C++, Objective-C, or Swift

  • Highly organized, creative, motivated, and passionate about achieving results

  • Curious and have excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Proficient in Operating Systems, kernel architecture and filesystems

  • Familiar with storage and IO paradigms

  • Familiar with operating system tracing mechanisms like dtrace

  • Proficient in data analytics and creating impactful data visualizations for executive reporting

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $116,106 and $208,300 annualized, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
