Apple Data Platform provides the machine learning, AI and data services that enables Apple product teams to build the intelligent systems and services being shipped in Apple products. We are the platform providing the building blocks for Apple Services, Software and AI/ML organizations for large scale ML and data processing. We provide a comprehensive suite of capabilities leveraging open source technologies like Ray and Spark that empower teams to build AI workflows, train models, analyze data, and perform data transformations at Apple scale and with strong governance. We are looking for Engineering leaders with a passion for building unified orchestration solutions to power the data, ML and AI workloads of the platform and our customers. This engineering manager will lead the team building the end to end system enabling real time, offline and batch orchestration of the platform and ecosystem. Description

As an Engineering Manager you will be responsible for the overall Orchestration System for the entire Apple Data Platform. You will be engaging with stakeholders, partners and customers to design and implement the services to operate at Apple scale. - Drive the overall execution and strategy of Apple Data Platform Orchestration Service - Lead a team of exceptional software engineers to build the best in class service and platform - Collaborate with key stakeholders and partners to deliver integrations, compliance, cost efficiency, and an optimal experience - Partner with internal customers and product teams to drive the platform roadmap and accelerate adoption of the platform - Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities - Cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team - Identify opportunities and drive a strategic approach to contributing to open source

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in managing Engineering teams.

  • 10+ years of software development experience in Data and AI platforms and infrastructure

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to collaborate with other teams across Apple.

  • Strong leadership in cross-functional collaboration, driving alignment across engineering, product, and business teams to accelerate platform adoption.

  • Expertise in distributed systems and cloud-native infrastructure, including Kubernetes, Data and ML orchestration systems

  • Experience designing and optimizing large-scale compute platforms with advanced scheduling, resource management, and cost efficiency considerations.

  • Experience in influencing and driving key product innovations and opportunities across a diverse set of global partners

  • Superb problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in AI/ML workload orchestration and scheduling, including optimizing resource allocation for large-scale training, inference, and data processing pipelines.

  • Experience building and managing AI infrastructure platforms, enabling frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Ray, and Spark with distributed compute environments

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $190,700 and $329,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
