Are you interested in shaping the future of entertainment? Prime Video's technology teams are creating best-in-class digital video experience.

As a Prime Video technologist, you’ll have end-to-end ownership of the product, user experience, design, and technology required to deliver state-of-the-art experiences for our customers. You’ll get to work on projects that are fast-paced, challenging, and varied. You’ll also be able to experiment with new possibilities, take risks, and collaborate with remarkable people.

We’ll look for you to bring your diverse perspectives, ideas, and skill-sets to make Prime Video even better for our customers. With global opportunities for talented technologists, you can decide where a career Prime Video Tech takes you!

As a Senior Software Development Manager, you'll be executing against a vision that requires us to invent new ways to deliver the features, quality and convenience our customers have come to expect from Amazon. You'll hire and develop talented software engineers and software and program managers to build out the next generation of the content viewing platform. As part of the Prime Video Content Platform leadership team, you will work on developing the systems and strategies used by Amazon worldwide and will regularly interact with senior leadership. You will work with our engineering, business, product and operations teams world-wide to define tangible roadmaps, drive execution of significantly complex programs, raise the bar on the engineering quality, and drive operational excellence initiatives. You’ll build, manage, and mentor a growing and high-performing engineering team towards achieving a focused mission. You will own the core systems that remove complexity from thousands of inputs (across dimensions like country, provider, station, business line, language, seasons, licensing requirements, etc.) across any given title (say Spiderman: No Way Home), integrate with other systems with Amazon, and reconcile parts of a title, so that when our customers are watching Spiderman in the US English or perhaps in Canadian French, they're presented the simplest and most compelling information about that movie. You’ll work in a high volume environment and will be required to lead not only at the strategic level, but also tactically day-to-day by diving deeply into business and technical domains.

To accomplish this, you will be expected to have an established background in building highly scalable systems and system design, excellent people and program management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to deliver credible results in a fast paced environment. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about connecting customer problems through underlying scalable software that raises the bar on customer and operational goals. Experience with building and operating web-based applications and/or web services-based applications, especially at massive scale, will be very applicable and helpful.

What you'll do:

  • Manage and grow a technical team including their roadmaps, programs, performance, and career growth for managers and ICs

  • Invent, simplify and collaborate with Peers and Product to deliver against bold roadmaps

  • Clearly communicate priorities, decisions, risks, and solutions with your team, management, and principal stakeholders

  • Work with your managers to determine scope and estimate development effort

  • Lead systems design, architecture, and scaling discussions

  • Influence new industry standards

  • Argue for the right outcomes with data, conviction, and diplomacy

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience

  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams

  • Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
