Role Overview:
As the Stockroom Clerk, you will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day needs of theParts/Stockroom. You will accurately issue parts and supplies while keeping acurate inventorywithin the INDOT software system. In this role you will routinely work with sub district and shoppersonnel (Highway Management Director (HMD), inventory administrator, and central officeinventory managers) and other Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) employees to determine automotive parts and supply needs. In addition to working with internal stakeholders you will also work with outside vendors on shop needs.
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $39,000.00. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Location:
This position is located in INDOT’s Crawfordsville District.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Research and compile information on specific aspects of the program such as procedures, needs and policies
Answer basic customer questions about program policies and procedures
Establish, organize, and maintain current and historical files related to the program
Collect information to help in the preparation of program reports, develop applications, prepare budget allocations and/or purchasing of consultative services
Maintain, organize, and monitor program assets
Schedule, prepare, and disseminate all program related training materials
Determines which INDOT procurement procedure is to be utilized when ordering stock
Complies with requirements, completes the necessary documentation and submits the order
Receives incoming orders, verifying completeness and accuracy
Corrects any billing issues, errors, and disputes with vendors
Determines destination of incoming stock
Accurately completes the necessary procedures and MCMS system program
Reviews, identifies, and recommends parts and supplies deemed overstocked or obsolete for the annual district surplus sale
Follows the established procedures
Provides work direction and training in receiving, inspecting, storing, and distributing stock, supplies and/or equipment, and recommends changes in and enforces storeroom or warehouse procedures
Inventories and orders supplies and/or equipment
Receives, inspects, stores and distributes items
Completes and maintains shipping, receiving and inventory records
Prepares or oversees preparation of requisition orders
Assists in preparation of storeroom budget
Oversees store room maintenance and maintains repackaging equipment
Oversees record maintenance of lot numbers and expiration dates
Unloads trucks and operates forklift and/or other equipment to move and store stock or equipment

What You'll Need for Success:
This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:
General knowledge of the program area
Working knowledge of applicable guidelines, agency policy, and professional standards
Ability to research and compile specific topics related to program area
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Ability to operate effectively in a group decision-making process
Tact in dealing with other agency personnel and the public
Specialized knowledge of accounting principles
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
High school diploma or equivalent
Must possess valid Driver’s license
Formal education in arithmetic that includes: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages
Six (6) months training or six (6) months experience in inventory control
Three (3) months training or three (3) months experience in Occupational Safety and Health Administration(OSHA) and/or other safety standards and practices applicable to storeroom or warehouse operations, or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above
Knowledge of employee training and development, OSHA and/or other safety standards and practicesapplicable to storeroom or operations

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
