Town of Coventry Clerk in COVENTRY, Rhode Island

*Town of Coventry seeks *Clerk for the Department of the Town Clerk **Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The Clerk is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Town Clerks office. This employee is directly supervised by the Town Clerk or designee. Work consists of a variety of duties which generally follow standardized practices, procedures, regulations or guidelines. The sequence of work and/or the procedures followed vary according to the nature of the transaction and/or the information involved, or sought, in a particular situation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT

  • Provides administrative and clerical support to the Department including responding to phone calls, resident and other visitors questions, preparing correspondence; maintenance and updating of department files, records, and databases;
  • Responsible for issuing marriage licenses, certified copy of vital records, municipal permits and licenses.
  • Responsible for the recording of legal documents including Warranty Deeds, Trusts, Mortgages, Liens, and other Land Evidence Records.
  • Reconciles cash and receipts and prepares applicable reports as requested.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Preference is given to experience within a Town Clerks office.
