St. Charles Community College Program Specialist, Part-time, Project Based, #23503 in Cottleville, Missouri

St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.

Our Community Education Department at SCC is seeking a part-time, project-based Program Specialist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contacts clients, ascertains needs, develops and coordinates all aspects of training course(s). Plan and schedule on and off-campus courses.
  • Assists in the development, revision, implementation and delivery of new and/or existing courses/resources. Courses may include both credit and non-credit formats.
  • Coordinates programs, events, courses, seminars and other services with instructors, trainers, and program staff including correspondence from beginning to end, special needs, supplies, etc.
  • Coordinates and assists in the development of advertisements, publications, promotion, marketing and outreach of classes.
  • Analyzes information for marketing/program research.
  • Provides support for program/project registrations and intake as needed and/or applicable.
  • Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of reports and budgets to determine allocation of funds as it pertains to development, implementation and sustainability of programs, projects and initiatives.
  • Assists with budgeting and finances including but not limited to payroll, billing and purchasing.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training, instructors, and services based on client feedback and experience. Recommends changes for continuous improvement on a project and department level.
  • Assists in recruiting qualified staff to support programs and initiatives, including interviewing and selecting instructors/staff to provide training and services for clients and/or programs.
  • Prepares reports and monitors progress of training programs.
  • Researches, writes, and monitors grant(s) and grant opportunities. Prepares proposals and work agreements.
  • Supervises program staff instructors and other staff assigned to a specific program and/or initiative. Provides training, direction, and coaching to these staff members, and initiates conversations on performance issues when required.
  • Sets the standards for safe and efficient operation of the programs. Addresses any safety concerns that arise, and creates new processes when necessary to address them.
  • Schedules and/or assists in the scheduling of classrooms and public spaces, to support on and off-site programming. Monitors classroom set-ups and equipment to ensure requirements for delivery of program and/or service are met.
  • Schedules personnel to include instructors, counselors, and assistants to ensure safe and efficient operation of the program.
  • Trains program staff on basic duties; coordinates training for areas outside of expertise.
  • Supervises day-to-day activities of program.
  • Responds to behavior issues, injuries, concerns with regard to the program. Handles most situations independently, but makes appropriate decisions about when situations need to be escalated.
  • Develops program based on trends and in-demand programs that ensure success of program.
  • Documents internal business processes for continuous improvement.
  • Represents the college by attending and participating in community activities and meetings.

Qualifications:Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Employee must have knowledge of Microsoft Office products and possess strong data analysis skills. Strong communication and organizational skills are needed. Employee should possess the ability to work with a diverse group of people from all socio-economic levels and work well with those who do not have good English-speaking skills. Being multi-lingual is a plus.

Hours: Varies; on an as needed basis.
