Job Description

We are now recruiting a Learning & Development Specialist to join our growing team at our site in Carrigtwohill, Cork. This is a 23-month contract. Reporting to the OPEX Performance & Strategy Manager, this is an exciting time to join the team as the site is undergoing expansion to add new technology and sterile cleanroom facilities. This person will ensure that AbbVie Cork has a clear overview of the necessary skill sets, experience, and knowledge on the Cork site across our employee population and create a development pathway to enable the growth and scalability of the Cork site to meet future LRP requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with Site Leadership Team develop a site talent development strategy, aligned to the site strategy and talent management review (TMR) to bridge leadership development and technical skills gaps.

  • Identify (internally and externally) and co-ordinate development requirements and programs to match organizational needs, opportunities, and challenges.

  • Apply formal and informal training needs assessments processes, including, but not limited to, surveys, focus group, department meetings etc to identify key needs and foundation (skill)? gaps. Assist dept managers with analysis and interpretation of results and the development of strategies to address issues and opportunities.

  • Support and measure the effectiveness of knowledge transfer and retention within the organization.

  • Keep informed of best practices within the industry with regards to training and work to implement best practices and technologies on site. Liaise with other AbbVie facilities and external bodies to ensure consistent training approaches on similar activities across different sites.

  • Report on return on investment in training.

  • Leverage e-learning and blending different learning approaches.

  • Conduct vendor assessment — source, support and review externally developed programs and facilitators capability to meet learning needs.

  • Responsible for managing the Training budget and grant applications, leveraging all external funding, partnering with local Finance team.

  • Work with SMEs on Instructor lead training programs to identify, support and implement continuous improvement initiatives, competency-based assessments, and e-learning solutions.

  • Work in collaboration with Finance and IDA to complete grant submissions for Training Grants.

Qualifications

  • 5 years + in similar Learning & Development role

  • Proven ability to co-ordinate Learning & Development Programmes

  • Experience working in a matrix environment.

  • Business and Organizational Experience

  • Requires proven problem-solving skills under pressure. The position requires detailed evaluation of several viable solutions to each problem.

  • Requires innovative thinking, where new and untested solutions are proposed, demonstrated and implemented on a regular basis.

  • Requires a very high level of attention to detail and mental concentration, to always ensure accuracy and total compliance with procedures.

  • Must be results driven, striving to meet all targets and metric standards as set by site/department and division leaders.
