Hours of work:
Full-time position with hours Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00 PM
The R&D Engineer V's role will be to both a) generate new product/process concepts in one or more emerging markets and b) support non-routine Manufacturing issues in specialty products. The R&D Engineer V must be able to rapidly gain understanding of a technology through both internal experts and literature/patent searches, then apply new concepts/knowledge toward advanced products, processes, and applications. Direct management of personnel on specific projects may be required, so supervisory experience is a plus. The R&D Engineer V will work directly with customers, as needed. Also required is flexibility and cooperation in working in teams and ability to run simultaneous projects at various stages of completion, while dealing with frequent changes in priorities in a fast-pace R&D environment. The R&D Engineer V will be responsible for all planning/execution/reporting of his/her projects.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
- * At lab scale level, modify or create activated carbon products or processes to meet new market needs
- * Estimate the business potential of the new products or processes
- * Technical lead for modifying and scaling up new activated carbon manufacturing processes
- * Responsible for planning and executing full-scale trials at manufacturing sites, and for advising on decisions for commercialization
- * Provide technical consulting/advice to Manufacturing or Sales teams as needed for issues related to current products/processes
Qualifications
- * A master's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering is required
- * A Doctoral degree (Ph.D) is preferred
- * 7-10 years of heterogeneous chemical processes experience is required
- * 7-10 years of experience in an industrial plant environment is required
* 10+ years in a technical development and economic assessment of processes or products is preferred
