SUMMARY

Maintains responsibility for the collaborative development, strategy, implementation, and oversight of high-quality engaging, informative, and accurate coaching and education of all non-technical Retailer, District, Zone, and Regional Staff. Serves as the “go to” training resource in the region, confidently providing expert-level knowledge of Subaru brand, carlines, and vehicle technologies while managing Foundations Certification, PINNACLE incentive, and other relevant regional initiatives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategizes, designs, and develops initiatives that inform, educate, and evaluate Regional, Zone, District, and Retail Staff.

  • Serves as a visible role model and go-to expert for all Subaru brand, product, technology, and skill-related curriculum.

  • Works closely with National Training Team and with the other Regional Product Training Managers to identify gaps in approach, offer insights, and influence the overall training strategy. Applies the strategy to develop new (and adapt existing) learning content, training initiatives, and programs – and to ensure a cohesive approach across regions.

  • Develops and delivers regular and timely communications to Regional, Zone, District, and Retailer teams ensuring adequate awareness of upcoming training initiatives and promoting relevant product, process, and system changes.

  • Must be approved as an “Authorized Driver” by Risk Management to operate vehicles prior to vehicle operation.

  • Must be able operate all Subaru products including manual transmissions vehicles.

  • Works in a collaborative partnership with National Training in the design and development of training initiatives to determine which training materials, assets, and programming would most effectively educate Regional, Zone, District, and Retail staff on Subaru products.

  • Formulates and leads the execution of training engagements to support on-boarding, new-product launches, and as-needed training through a variety of training mediums including in-person, on-car, and web/virtual engagements. Maintains responsibility for planning aspects of the engagements, such as determining needs and attendees and securing staffing and product materials.

  • Identifies training gaps and needs through analysis of Oracle’s Business Intelligence System (OBI) reports, internal research, and third-party studies. Assesses the success of completed training engagements and opportunities to improve.

  • Leads Regional initiatives and influences and supports National Training initiatives including (but not limited to) National Training Conference (NTC), National Business Conference (NBC), Retailer Driving Programs (RDP), Love Encore STAR Academies, EV Certification Programs, and Fixed Operations engagements.

  • Monitors seat fill rates for EV Certifications, Love Encore STAR Academies, Retailer Driving Programs, and other Zone/Local engagements. Works with and provides guidance to Zone staff to determine how to increase attendance numbers if needed.

  • Maintains a “dotted line” management responsibility for the Zone Retailer Training Managers.

  • Manages the on-boarding and continued education of Zone Retailer Training Managers.

  • Performs skills assessment of the Zone Retailer Training Managers and determines plans to address needs as part of an ongoing improvement process. Coaches, guides, and helps direct their efforts.

  • Ensures the Zone Retailer Training Managers’ product, process, and systems knowledge and presentation proficiency and consistency.

  • Researches and maintains knowledge of advanced automotive theories, emerging technologies, competitive products, and general automotive industry trends by completing training, following industry news, and attending knowledge and product design and research sessions with Subaru Corporation (SBR) and other internal Subaru of America (SOA) staff.

  • Converts highly technical automotive theories into easily understandable and relatable information for customer and retailer-facing staff.

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizes and leads training teams in preparation for, and leading up to, training engagements such as conferences, Retailer Driving Programs, and STAR Academies.

  • Works collaboratively with the other Regional Product Training Managers and partners with other staff as needed to accomplish projects and objectives.

  • Motivates, influences, and leads a group of indirect reports and drives and engages a diverse team.

  • Provides review and feedback of training engagements for accuracy, relevance, and ergonomics to support National Training initiatives.

  • Contributes to ensuring overall customer experience improvement initiatives through training support and collaboration with Regional Customer Experience Teams.

  • Contributes to overall Fixed Operations (non-technical) improvement initiatives through training support and collaboration with Regional Aftersales Teams.

  • Manages Regional training budget to support training and promotional needs.

  • Sources and organizes off-site venues to conduct instructor-led presentations, vehicle walkarounds, and other training engagements.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Dedicated to fostering improvement in others.

  • Basic knowledge of adult learning theories and the ability to communicate recommendations for training approach.

  • Extraordinary communication, facilitation, coaching, and 1-on-1 skills in any environment.

  • Ability to observe, analyze, and provide constructive feedback/coaching to facilitators.

  • Ability to maintain certification in all Sales/Fixed Operations brand, product, technology, and skills courses.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Ability to establish strong, mutually beneficial relationships internally and externally within the organization.

  • Self-starter and deadline oriented.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that satisfied the requirements of SOA Driving Record Evaluation Criteria Policy. 

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 4-Year College Degree (BA, BS) and 8-10 years' experience

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Required Travel: 60-70% travel required

  • Lift up to 50 lbs

  • Prolonged sitting at desk and working on computer.

  • Region office environment: ability to work at Zone office, retailers, and event sites.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends to support events.

    COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $111500 - $159200 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
