Orbex Space Health and Safety Officer in Copenhagen, Denmark
Orbex are looking for a Health and Safety Officer to support the Orbex production facility in Copenhagen as well as our test site in Faxe.
You will be a key point of contact for our engineering team in Denmark and an essential advisor for the business on health, safety, environment and security.

Orbex is a leading micro-launch company with our Prime vehicle being prepared to launch from our home spaceport, Sutherland Spaceport. We are well placed to be one of the first operational micro-launch companies in Europe with over €122m of project financing secured, a number of customers signed up, our launch licence application submitted, and backing from organisations including UKSA and ESA.
We are a rapidly growing company with staff located between our production and test facilities in Forres, Scotland and Copenhagen, Denmark. Working on cutting-edge advances in rocket fuel technology, Prime’s carbon footprint is up to 96% lower than comparable vehicles, leading to innovations in propulsion and tank structures. A state-of-the-art re-flight system means we can recover and reuse our technology, and innovations in separation mechanisms mean we leave no debris in space.
Having developed in-house production capability, we can 3D print complex engines, produce full-scale carbon composite fuel tanks, and have avionics and software testing labs in both Scotland and Denmark. Based in Forres, you will be right in the heart of this fast-paced cutting-edge company, gaining a unique insight into what it takes to build a new launch vehicle for a buoyant commercial market.

The Position
Your role will include a range of tasks and responsibilities, amongst which you will:
Ensure Health and Safety (H&S) management systems for Orbex are implemented and maintained in accordance with relevant Danish, Environmental, H&S statutory provisions & legislation
Ensure the implementation of the safety management and safe systems of work in line with statutory obligations
Work closely with operational teams to support the development and monitoring of safe systems of work and risk assessments
Provide advice, guidance, and instruction in all H&S matters to Management team, Safety representatives and Employees
Lead and influence Heath and Safety (H&S) culture and promote positive attitudes and behaviours across all Orbex sites, by providing staff training including any new starters
Ensure projects operate in compliance with all statutory and security requirements and best practices in accordance to Danish and EU law
Support coordinate and lead (as necessary) the investigation of incidents to ensure effective learning outcomes, training and timely closure of actions
Coordination in the development of Risk Assessments and Task Risk Assessments
Carry out regular audits and inspection, document reports and establish corrective and preventive actions to prevent reoccurrence and continuous improvements
What you will bring:
+3 years’ experience in H&S, ideally from hazardous and engineering environments like Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Maritime, Military and similar
NIBOSH or Equivalent qualifications preferred
Effective communicator in Danish and/or strong knowledge of Danish H&S legislation
Proven knowledge of H&S and Environmental legislation and good practices
Ability to efficiently assess and manage all health and safety issues on site, including test site in Faxe
Full driver’s license
Desirable experience:
Experience working with ATEX, IECEx or Explosive atmospheres is desirable

Location
This role is based in Copenhagen at Orbex’s Danish propulsion engineering and manufacturing site in Copenhagen although frequent travel to our test site in Faxe will be a requirement.
You will be spending time both at the factory and our nearby rocket engine testing site, with occasional travel to our main factory, test and launch sites in Scotland.

Security
