BUNZL Accounts Receivable Clerk in Compton, California

Description

John Tillman, a division of Bunzl, is seeking an Accounts Receivable Clerk. The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for supporting the accounting department in general receivables, customer billing and payment applications, collections, data entry, and special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform accounting and clerical functions to support the Accounts Receivable Department by calling customers to collect on past due balances, providing them statements and copies of invoices, researching and clearing short payments, and processing adjustments

  • Ability to work with A/R aging; identify and manage bad debt accounts

  • Process credit and debit memos for customer invoices

  • Verify the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records

  • Lockbox Cash Application, ACH cash application, and assist other A/R Clerks when needed

  • Assist and ensure accurate and timely payment processing from customers

  • Process credit applications

  • Engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously

  • Contribute to the Accounting team environment in which cross functions are assumed as necessary in order to meet department deadlines and objectives

  • Support the Accounting Department and carry out duties as assigned, including month-end duties

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • A minimum of two years of Accounting experience preferred

  • Knowledge of A/R processes; experience with bill of ladings preferred

  • Must have an excellent eye for detail; must have the ability to spot issues quickly and be able to resolve them in a timely manner

  • Analytical skills necessary to validate deductions and to support solving complex transaction processing issues

  • Must possess excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent time management skills; ability to multi-task projects, establish priorities and meet deadlines

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and customers

  • Able to problem-solve and handle a variety of issues

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Must also be able to follow directions and work as part of a team

  • Must keep management apprised of progress and/or deviations

Tillman California salary range: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour based on experience, education and geographic location.
