The Hartford’s AI platform team is looking for a visionary leader to lead our efforts in creating, architecting and developing AI platform to accelerate the development, deployment and management of AI and GenAI models and solutions.

We are seeking an experienced leader to lead the development of AI platform across the enterprise. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the design and development of the platform that accelerates the build of complex digital assistants, enables rapid experimentation, supports scaling and productionization of the solutions with built in scalability, security and self-service features. The ideal candidate is an accomplished professional with significant experience in data, analytics, MLOps/LLMOps engineering who is equipped to manage and drive broader stakeholder engagements.

You will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to define, plan, and execute the build of the AI platform in alignment with Hartford’s strategic AI growth agenda. You will lead a team of AI and MLOps engineers providing technical guidance, mentoring, and career development opportunities.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

You will be responsible for:

  • Setting the vision and strategy for our AI platform engineering team and ensuring alignment with the company's goals and objectives

  • Building and scaling a world-class platform engineering team that can deliver high-quality AI and generative AI solutions using best practices and cutting-edge technologies.

  • Coaching and mentoring the AI engineering team members and foster their professional growth and development.

  • Establishing and enforcing standards and processes for AI model development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance

  • Establishing standards, practices and features to manage the end-to-end lifecycle and support of AI projects ensuring quality, timeliness, and scalability.

  • Defining and executing the vision and roadmap for AI platform that align with the organization's strategic goals and customer needs.

  • Driving innovation and engineering in the field of AI and staying updated with the latest trends and developments

  • Building and maintaining relationships with external partners, vendors to leverage best practices and emerging technologies in AI and GenAI.

  • Evaluating and adopting new tools and frameworks for generative AI model operations (FMOps) and LLM operations (LLMOps)

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in leading AI and ML Engineering organizations with expertise in building and/or managing large-scale AI, data and analytics platforms

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and services, such as Google Cloud, AWS, Azure and their offerings for generative AI

  • Knowledgeable about the principles and practices of FMOps, and LLMOps, and the tools and technologies used for generative AI model operations.

  • Ability to collaborate and partner with business leaders and IT/Data Science teams.

  • Experience in leading Agile teams, SAFE experience is a plus.

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills at the senior management level.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage teams made up of both employees and vendor partners that are located in multiple geographies.

  • In depth knowledge of data management strategies, practices, and principles is a plus.

  • Experience with cloud-based data-related platforms and open-source data related technologies is beneficial.

  • Experience establishing frameworks for data quality, data governance, stewardship, and metadata management is valuable.

  • Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree in Computer Science or related fields

  • Demonstrate a willingness to challenge the status quo

  • Demonstrate a bias for action.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$222,480 - $333,720
