Responsibilities of the Maintenance Specialist:

• Keep the Director of Buildings and Grounds informed about ongoing activities and issues.
• Maintain open and effective communication, using problem-solving techniques to address concerns.
• Anticipate and replenish consumable supplies to avoid work schedule interruptions.
• Assist with deliveries and verify package contents.
• Perform various general and semi-skilled maintenance activities.
• Respond to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.
• Participate in training programs for district equipment and supplies.
• Work in all types of weather conditions and various hours of the day.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for the Maintenance Specialist position:

• Adaptability: High motivation and the ability to shift tasks at a moments notice.
• Technical Knowledge: Experience with machinery such as lawn mowers, edgers, weed eaters and small utilities is desirable.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent people skills to work effectively with others in diverse environments.
• Certification: Must hold a valid Nebraska Drivers License and pass a background check.

Physical Requirements for the Maintenance Specialist position:

• Frequent sitting, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing and lifting up to 10 pounds.
• Constant standing, walking and driving.

Working Conditions:

• Work both indoors and outdoors in varying climatic conditions.
• Potential exposure to hot surfaces, dust, steam, fuels, solvents, electrical currents and water pressure at work sites.
