Summary: The Substance Abuse Counselor conducts and/or facilitates individual and group therapy sessions, to include drug and alcohol abuse cognitive programming, life skills, anger management and education /treatment for clients. May communicate directly with customers as required by contractual obligations. Utilizes and models principles of evidence-based practices in all interactions with clients. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Substance Abuse Counselor conducts and/or facilitates intakes, individual, group and family therapy sessions, classes and orientation, following Company curriculum and standards using principles of evidence-based p Maintains accurate clinical documentation including intake summaries/assessments, individual / group notes, discharge summaries, treatment plans and updates. Updates therapeutic logs in a timely manner. Enters pertinent information into data systems. The Substance Abuse Counselor conducts risks/needs assessments and creates individual treatment plans for each assigned client. Communicates relevant, accurate and adequate information regarding clients' needs/concerns/issues to supervisor and other appropriate parties. May communicate client status/updates to customers as required by contract. The Substance Abuse Counselor attends regular clinical supervision meetings to ensure communication between team members and collaboration on case management. Attends and participates in all staff meetings, workshops and trainings. Familiar with various treatment models, including: Strategies for Self-Improvement and Change; Cognitive Therapy; Relapse Prevention; Family Therapy; and 12-Step Facilitati n. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, counseling psychology, or a related field and certification as a Certified Addictions Counselor II (CAC II). Work experience which provides the same kind, amount and level of knowledge acquired in the required education may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. A master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, counseling psychology, or a related field may substitute for the Certified Addictions Counselor II (CAC II). Experience working in an outpatient substance abuse treatment clinic within a diverse population preferred. Experience providing drug/alcohol and mental health treatment to adult offenders preferred. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
