Position: Payroll Specialist
Reports to: Controller
FLSA: Full Time, Non-Exempt
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist provides functional and/or technical support for resolution of payroll problems, incidents, issues, requests and queries. Liaise with other department or contract managers to resolve requests/issues in a timely manner and ensures proper documentation, notification, escalation, tracking and follow up of all incidents. Responsible for performing a wide variety of payroll activities, including payroll processing, creation of termination checks and responding to employee queries. Well-rounded performer who thrives in a fast paced, demanding environment with the willingness to dig deep into details as well as the ability to assess the big picture. Must be independent and self-driven
The Payroll Specialist will process both domestic and international full cycle payroll. The Payroll Specialist must be detailed oriented and dedicated to accomplishing all tasks in the required time frame.
Competencies:
Processing of bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly payroll for 340+ domestic and international employees from timecard entry through ACH or check development using Paycom payroll software and Ceridian tax processing
Coordinate year-end W-2 preparation and international equivalents
Answer employee questions
Ensure all payroll documentation is accurate and current
Ensure accurate and timely remittance of employee contributions to 401k
Participate in Financial and Benefits Audits as necessary
Perform daily payroll department operations
Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
Execute time and attendance processing (Vacation, Leave of Absences, Sick Time)
Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
Process manual checks if needed
Update and reconcile monthly insurance statements
Working knowledge or payroll practices and procedures
Ability to research answers, seek solutions and follow through on complex tasks
Strong Excel spreadsheet modeling skills
Ability to work closely with a global team
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Must possess strong analytical skills
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal
Good organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skill
Contact various department supervisors for any missed time
Able to maintain confidential information.
Experience Required:
5 years of full cycle payroll preferably in Federal Contracting
Service Contract Act administration of Health & Welfare Fringe
Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent experience
College degree is preferred.
Highly organized, strong attention to detail and service-oriented
Proven ability to work with confidential information
Strong Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel and Outlook a must
Team player, comfortable in a fast-paced multi-task environment
Strong problem solving, communication and organizational skills
International payroll processing experience is a plus
