Job Summary

The Department of Organismal Biology and Ecology (OBE) at Colorado College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position with expertise in Animal-Plant Interactions to begin in Fall 2025.

Responsibilities for this position entail teaching six courses in the academic year, including field-based ecology, introductory biology focused on plants, a non-majors' course in the candidate's area of specialty, an upper-level course in the candidate's area of specialty (e.g., pollination, herbivory, symbioses, entomology), and a mentored student research course. The ability to integrate experimental design, ecology, and evolutionary biology and a familiarity with Rocky Mountain or Southwestern ecosystems are highly desirable. Colorado College is a private, undergraduate, highly selective liberal arts institution enrolling approximately 2200 students. The college uses the Block Plan calendar in which students take one class at a time, allowing for unique learning and teaching strategies, as well as significant field and lab experiences. The OBE Department studies the structure and function of organisms in ecological and evolutionary contexts. OBE research foci include plant, animal, and microbial biology, ecology, and evolution, comparative physiology, conservation biology, and molecular ecology. Minimum Qualifications

A completed Ph.D. in animal or plant biology/ecology is required by late Spring 2025. Undergraduate teaching experience, mentoring undergraduate research experience, and a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism in biology are high priorities.
