Job Summary

Hiring Range: $102,500.00 - $112,750.00 annually (salary to be commensurate with qualifications)

This position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm or 8:00am – 4:30pm , subject to change. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is exempt.

Performs physical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment under protocol for clients. Refers clients and maintains client records in a clinical setting.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Obtains medical and psychosocial histories on clients.

  • Performs complete physical exams and individualized gynecological or reproductive exams on clients.

  • Orders, performs, and interprets selected laboratory and diagnostic tests as indicated by client history and physical exam.

  • Determines a plan of health care for clients based on data obtained through history, physical and laboratory review based on guidelines.

  • Identifies clients with existing or developing medical risk factors outside scope of practice and initiates appropriate referrals or other area resources.

  • Counsels and educates clients on all aspects of reproductive health and health related issues including sexually transmitted infections.

  • Collaborates with State Health Department on emerging/ongoing STIs, their cause, treatments, and resources within the community.

  • Maintains accurate client records.

  • Responsible for follow-up on abnormal clinical and lab results.

  • Obtains records and analyzes demographic and statistical data to adapt services to client and community needs.

  • Participates in departmental emergency planning and response activities.

  • Promotes public health within the community.

  • Takes personal responsibility to provide exceptional customer service in order to promote and maintain a positive Public Health image, constructive working environment, and foster pride and professionalism in the workplace and community.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Supervision Exercised:This classification does not have supervisory authority; however, may be required to provide expertise or limited guidance or direction to employees, such as overseeing work quality, training, and guidance. Typically serves as a subject matter expert on the scope of functional area.

Supervision Received:Receives general supervision. This classification typically performs job duties by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. Regular direction, guidance, and coaching from supervisor may be expected. There is a choice of the appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties. Performance reviewed periodically.

  • Ability to communicate, motivate, and organize projects among a broad spectrum of personnel, frequently under deadline pressure.

  • Ability to perform under pressure and when confronted with persons acting under stress.

  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns. Ability to identify problems and work creativity to resolve them, considering the impact of actions.

  • Ability to identify results of efforts and problems identified/potential problems and to develop and recommend corrective actions to supervisor.

Required Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN).

Licenses/Certificates

  • Must be a current certified Nurse Practitioner (APRN-NP) in good standing.

  • Must have current Registered Nurse licensure to practice in the State of Colorado; nurses with compact licensure must meet all licensure requirements set forth by the Colorado Board of Nursing within ninety days of employment.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid CPR Certification on first day of employment.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Must pass conditional post offer background investigation and drug screen.

Work Conditions

Work environment may include potential exposure to infections, blood, and contagious diseases; potential exposure to pets, secondhand smoke, and other environmental hazards. Position requires bending, kneeling, and crouching. Public Health employees are responsible for providing proof of vaccinations and/or tuberculosis testing as applicable to the specific position and must provide proof of completion of required vaccinations/testing or proof of initiation within sixty days of hire date.
