Job Summary

The Director of Global Quality is a highly visible function with objectives of preventing quality issues rather than remediating, ensuring the highest quality products and solutions, exceeding customer expectations, and building lasting customer loyalty.

Primary Duties

  • Develop and implement operational business plans, strategies, and organization design that are consistent with short and long-term company goals and objectives.

  • Ensure operations conform to the company’s policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Design and implement continuous improvement / productivity projects that increase throughput and reliability.

  • Develop and support new product launch activities by implementing a standardized launch process that includes; Production Readiness Assessments, Risk Management, APQP, Early Production Containment, PPAP. Provide leadership for developing these skills throughout the supply base.

  • Build customer and supplier partnerships to closely monitor “voice of the customer” and proactively adapt to changing market and customer needs.

  • Identify and develop new and emerging technologies as well as internal/external competencies required to be best in class.

  • Review and provide on-site assessments of quality and technical development capability of strategic supplier partnerships.

  • Work closely with Product Team, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, and Sales on cross functional and company initiatives with direction from Department VP.

  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company. Builds a great working environment for the contributors. Attracts, develops, retains, and motivates the talent needed to be a world class, high performing team.

  • Responsible for oversight and maintenance of department budget.

  • Formulate effective corrective and preventative maintenance strategies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • An impeccably strong change agent and influential leader with exemplary experience and success in the areas of Quality, Customer Satisfaction Improvement & Sustainability, Six Sigma, Process Improvement, Cost Avoidance and Optimization.

  • A strong communicator who is able to work with all levels of the organization.

  • Experience providing support to a large and diverse customer base.

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills required.

  • Ability to lead employees to assure company goals and results are met.

  • Black Belt Certification preferred.

  • Experience in a fast paced, cross-functional environment a plus.

  • Knowledge of various engineering and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience in engineering components for the automotive industry or automotive aftermarket a plus.

  • Proven track record in establishing deep and lasting customer and supplier relationships.

  • Challenges the status quo, proven track record of driving change and teaching/motivating individuals to develop & implement new ways of thinking and doing business.

  • Highly effective collaborator with internal as well as external resources.

  • High-level of personal accountability.

  • Up to 20% travel required.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering discipline.

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience with previous direct (hands-on) Quality Leadership experience in a supervisory role.
