Aerotek Heavy Equipment Operator (Directional Drilling) in Cohoes, New York

Job Title: Directional Driller

Job Description

As a directional driller, you will be responsible for operating a drill machine and engaging in utility installation directional drilling. This is a physically demanding role that requires you to be on your feet for extended periods, moving materials around, and often using shovels or other tools. You will frequently work in trenches, helping to set and build forms. Your start time will be 6:30 AM daily at the shop, and you can expect to work 10 hours a day. You will report to the shop, ride with the crew, and return to the shop after work.

Hard Skills

  • Previous experience with directional drilling - whether it be utility, oil, or boring.

  • Ability to scale ladders and lift 50 lbs repeatedly

  • OSHA 10 certification

Soft Skills

  • Ability to adhere to strict safety guidelines

  • Physical stamina for manual labor

  • Comfortable working in dirty and muddy conditions

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position which encompasses the entire capital region.

Work Environment

The work environment strictly adheres to OSHA compliance, with safety being the #1 priority. All candidates must follow guidelines at all times. The work is physical, and candidates will be on their feet all day. They will often be in trenches helping to set and build forms. The workday starts at 6:30 AM at the shop, and workers will put in 10 hours a day. The team size is 14 total field workers. This is a role for those comfortable with getting dirty and muddy. Work shirts, pants, and steel-toe boots are required at all times. Winter gear is provided when it's cold. Other provided equipment includes a hard hat, glasses, gloves, and a hi-viz vest.
