Job Title: Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled NDT Level III Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for calibrating production equipment, revising and updating work instructions, interfacing with customers and suppliers, initiating training and development programs, and performing internal process audits. The role also involves creating scan plans, managing inventory, and applying root cause corrective action tools.
Responsibilities
Calibrate production equipment used by hourly inspection employees within the Sonic and Penetrant Departments to ensure compliance.
Revise and update all work instructions for hourly inspection employees regarding pre-inspection etch, sonic, penetrant, and stamp control in accordance with customer requirements.
Interface with customers and suppliers through emails and phone calls to develop NDT strategies and solutions that meet customer specifications and company quality requirements. This includes visiting customer and supplier premises and providing equipment demonstrations.
Initiate training and development programs for all Ultrasonic and Penetrant hourly inspectors to support product and process quality requirements. Provide training on various customer-driven testing methods, qualifying, and certifying all Level II inspectors.
Write forging-specific scan plans and departmental procedures for the inspection of each part performed by the Ultrasonic and Penetrant departments that meet the intent of customer contracts.
Create POs for necessary equipment and contracted services. Distribute supplies and equipment to the Production Department by maintaining minimum and maximum inventory values.
Conduct internal process audits on machine operating cells, tool calibrations, employees, etc. Prepare audit reports, initiate associated corrective actions, and maintain applicable audit action items and records.
Use and apply root cause corrective action tools for the evaluation of non-conformances, including investigating, evaluating, reviewing, reporting, responding to customers, and internal follow-up activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
ASNT NDT Level III certificate holder in ultrasonic and/or liquid penetrant testing.
Degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Minimum one year of experience with product function, testing, design, continuous improvement, and process control tools including SPC, MSA, Control Plans, Gage R & R’s, and other statistical techniques.
Thorough understanding of ISO/AS9100 quality systems standards and NADCAP special processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with electrical, motor control, photoeyes, motors, automated equipment, controls, and PLC troubleshooting.
ASNT certification.

Work Environment
This position is within a heavy industrial environment with a significant amount of automation. The site consists of seven buildings across 120+ acres, and employees may work in different buildings based on needs. The maintenance department comprises 55 employees across three shifts. The company provides uniforms, and the work environment is unionized, ensuring stability and consistent upgrades to automation and equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

Vacation time - 1 year = 1 week, 5 years = 2 weeks (up for negotiation in union contract for feb 2024)
