JOB SUMMARY:

The Pro Shop Clerks are responsible for performing general cashiering duties, managing and tracking play, protecting and controlling assets, merchandising, promotions, and enforcement of rules and policies in the club house and on the course.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION THAT MAY REQUIRE WORKING AT SWAN LAKE AND/OR MASON RUDOLPH GOLF COURSES, DEPENDING ON STAFFING NEEDS. KNOWLEDGE OF GOLF RULES/GOLF COURSE OPERATIONS IS A PLUS. CASH HANDLING/RETAIL EXPERIENCE ARE PREFERRED. THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

Example of Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responds to requests for information from the general public, staff, and/or other interested parties; answers routine questions; and directs callers/visitors to the appropriate locations or staff;
  • Provides excellent customer service and assistance to all patrons;
  • Controls and manages play; ensures customer check-in and fee collection;
  • Accepts standard payment and issues receipts;
  • Restocks sales floor, assists in conducting periodic inventories of merchandise;
  • Stays informed of and promotes all golf course activities and services;
  • Provides assistance as needed during tournaments and outings;
  • Ensures clubhouse is kept clean, neat, orderly, and secure;
  • Ensures golf carts are cleaned and ready for use;
  • Cleans outside areas including collecting trash on course and cleaning bathrooms;
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Typical Qualifications

LICENSES REQUIRED:

Driver's License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Acceptable math skils to accurately count money.
  • Must have the ability to use a cmputer, cash register and calulator.
  • Must have computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of golf game play and rules preferred but not required.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and effectively enforce course rules.
  • Ability to maintain courteous and helpful working relationships with the public.
  • Must be able to work effectively under indirect supervision.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions from supervisor(s).
  • Must be able to give verbal and physical instructions to guests.
Supplemental Information

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Light to moderate lifting/carrying (10-50 pounds) may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires both indoor and outdoor work. Incumbents may be exposed to extreme weather conditions while working outside.

This position requires a flexible schedule gthat includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

This position is part-time. There is no sick leave or vacation accural and no paid holidays. There is no set numer of hours guaranteed on the weekly schedule, and all work schedules are subject to change.
