As a Principal Scientist for R&I Medical Affairs, this role will be a key scientific resource and partner for internal and external stakeholders, providing medical and scientific expertise within the field of dermatology. This role will be responsible for supporting the strategic innovation of L’Oreal Research & Innovation’s products across various dermatological categories: pathology such as atopic dermatitis, aesthetic areas such as invasive and non-invasive procedures and cosmetic (topic skincare, scalp and hair care) by ensuring high level of scientific accuracy and consumer centricity. The role will also be responsible for building medical collaborations with global dermatologist partners to co-build innovations and raise the scientific reputation of the L’Oreal Groupe.

This positions requires at least 20% travel.

A Day in the Life:

  • Scientific Exchange: Leverage scientific expertise to establish and build professional relationships with medical network of worldwide KOLs for consultations, medical advisory boards and scientific discussions supporting novel research programs across various dermatology categories aligned with R&I medical strategy: pathology, aesthetics and cosmetic dermatology.

  • Medical Relations : Lead scientific discussions with healthcare professionals (HCPs), including dermatologists, researchers, and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to build strategies for collaboration, communication, and transformation to support L'Oréal R&I’s dermatological and scientific research areas.

  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, from all global R&I hubs in Advanced Research and other partners across clinical functions, regulatory, development labs, brand partners to ensure scientific alignment and consistency across all activities.

  • External Collaboration: Work closely with key external advocacy partners to support L’Oréal’s commitments to ensure a diverse and inclusive dermatological community from workforce, education and bridging of scientific research and medical gaps.

  • Medical Education: Develop and deliver scientific presentation, educational programs to internal and external stakeholders on relevant projects and innovations.

  • Clinical Trial Support: Provide medical affairs support for clinical trials, including study design, data interpretation, and publication strategy with thorough understanding of cosmetic and FDA regulations.

  • Data Dissemination: Communicate and disseminate scientific data through publications, scientific congresses, and other appropriate channels.

  • Competitive Intelligence: Monitor the competitive landscape, stay abreast of scientific advancements in dermatology and identification of new medical insights

  • Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with internal healthcare policies, relevant regulations and ethical guidelines.

    We Are Looking For:

  • Advanced Clinical/Science degree or professional credentials required (MS, MD, PhD, PharmD, and/or scientific background/experience with preference for skin/dermatology background

  • Possess deep knowledge of medical, cosmetic, facial aesthetic dermatology, cellular/molecular or related fields, and have demonstrated success in effectively communicating complex scientific information to diverse audiences

  • 3-7 years post professional degree practice or relevant transferable experience (clinical, academic research, and industry)

  • 3-7 years' experience in a medical organization with preference for dermatology

  • Ability to develop and build strong collaboration in cross-functional and cross-cultural/highly matrixed environment.

  • Proven ability to develop relationships with physicians and other Healthcare Professionals

  • Ability to develop and execute key strategies.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and presentation skills with ability to communicate clinical and non-clinical technical information effectively

  • Knowledge of the cosmetic and beauty industry a plus

  • The ability to be onsite, in the office as this is an essential function of the position (required)

  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis without the need for legal sponsorship now or in the future (required)
