M&T Bank Senior Business Systems Analyst (Enterprise Analytics) in Clanton, Alabama

OVERVIEW:

Responsible for facilitating complex projects from proposal through post-implementation. Participates in meetings with lines of business to identify their data requirements. Serves as project lead to ensure specifications are completed in a timely basis and project meets established milestones.

Translates data requirements of the business into technical specifications in collaboration with the stakeholders. Maintains metadata, transformation logic and data lineage and leads efforts to maintain and improve data quality through issue identification, management, and remediation.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify the most accurate data field(s) when domain data is sourced for internal projects and/or products by querying databases. Maintain advanced knowledge of domain's products and services, and an advanced understanding of how data supports those offerings.

  • Participate in meetings with lines of business to identify their requirements in how an application looks as feels to the end user and provide feedback to clients regarding business requirements to ensure technology applications support internal/external customer needs and products/services as provided by lines of business. Review business requirements with technology team to ensure understanding of project requirements.

  • Coordinate and provide estimates for complex projects and complete estimates for assigned component for projects, inclusive of timelines and project phases.

  • Serve as subject matter expert to consult and advise on how applications may be impacted by enterprise- wide initiatives, like an acquisition or major change in products/services provided to customers.

  • Provide and maintain accurate metadata and lineage on all domain data using industry-standard governance platforms, understand and verify transformation logic, and approve any metadata changes.

  • Translate business data needs into technical specifications that provide clear direction to data engineers to enhance current data products in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Classify data assets to meet regulatory and privacy requirements, including identifying personally identifiable information (PII) and payment card information (PCI) data.

  • Participate in creation of data quality rules including rule definition and verification that rules accommodate domain specific nuances.

  • Identify the correct data fields(s) to meet business requirements and monitor adherence to internal data sharing agreements.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • May serve as Test Coordinator for large project initiatives involving multiple applications

  • Participate in and document data mapping for integration of systems, conversion and acquisition-related projects to understand how applications may need to change or be impacted by enterprise-wide initiatives, like regulatory requirements, other system enhancements or business initiatives.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

No supervisory responsibility

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years related experience

  • Experience pulling data from Structured Query Language (SQL) platforms

  • Experience working under supervision to close data issues

  • Experience owning the business relationship to get business requirements and translate those into tech requirements for engineers

  • Experience completing user acceptance testing for data products

  • Basic knowledge of data management

  • Understanding of dimensional database models (Star or Snowflake schemas)

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Minimum of 3 years Data Steward or Business Systems Analyst experience

  • Basic knowledge of assigned domain products, systems, and workflows

  • Knowledge of assigned domain products, systems, and workflows

  • Data classification and privacy experience

  • Experience pulling data from SQL databases / platforms (SparkSQL preferred)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Prior experience multitasking for various components of complex projects.

  • Experience working as a member of an agile team

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $97,869.52 - $163,115.87 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
