The laboratory of Dr. Zhang in the Department of Anesthesiology is hiring a full-time Research Assistant Professor in a highly collaborative team and a vibrant pain research center that performs cutting edge neuroscience and pain research. The laboratory integrates in vivo/in vitro electrophysiology, in vivo/in vitro calcium imaging, and molecular genetics to understand neurological mechanisms of pain. The laboratory is also interested in clinical research on pain. Essential Functions Assist the PI in the development and implementation of research projects, data collection and analysis for grant and paper submission, write and submit papers. Other duties associated with this position are contributions to the intellectual environment of the lab by participating in lab meetings, relevant journal clubs, attending seminars, and training students and fellows. Minimum Requirements The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology, or related biomedical science field with at least 3 years post-doctoral training experience. Additional Qualifications Considered The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Extensive knowledge in neuroscience and experience with rodent models are prerequisites. A background in clinical research and/or experience with Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes is advantageous. Animal behavioral testing, animal surgical skills, and prior experience in manuscript and grant writing are ideal.
