NOTE: Charlotte, NC is the preferred location for this position but other locations within Duke Energy's geography will be considered. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining wildfire mitigation plans to ensure the Power Grid Operations organization has processes in place that prevent or mitigate wildfires, as well as being prepared to respond to all levels of wildfire events that can cause damage to our communities, disrupt service to customers and negatively affect Duke's reputation and brand. Responsibilities focus on process and procedure development and management; deployment of processes and procedures within distribution and transmission functions of Power Grid Operations; identifying current and emerging issues for the electric industry and keeping apprised of current or potential legislative changes that will affect the electric utility sector. The position delivers value through the development and deployment of prevention, mitigation and preparedness strategies and plans, and formation of functional teams which: Maintain appropriate focus on prevention, mitigation and preparedness Protect the brand and reputation of Duke Energy Are based on industry best practices and innovative technology and approaches. Responsibilities : Development of Wildfire resiliency plans and programs to manage emergencies, protect employees and assets, and ensure business continuity. Develop and lead pre-event exercises and education, perform business impact analysis, and support IMT emergency response for Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). Key responsibilities include identifying risks, designing, and implementing control methods and standards, monitoring adherence to standards, responding to concerns, resolving and mitigating issues and advising the business on rules, controls, and industry best practices. Oversee the development of a comprehensive PSPS compliance program responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and execution of all blue-sky and in-event PSPS regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of Duke Energy customers and communities. Manage adherence to compliance requirements, responding to data requests, and providing information to public safety partners/agencies. Oversight of development, implementation, and restoration in coordination with operations/engineering teams to ensure customer impact is minimized and restoration times are met. Collaborate with leadership in Operations, Customer Service, Enterprise Preparedness Services, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, Meteorology, and other internal organizations to support interdepartmental coordination; situational awareness; planning, and coordination; emergency and incident response. Develop and deliver presentations in relation to the wildfire mitigation plans, industry issues, and legislative changes to management. Assist corporate departments by supporting wildfire external agency outreach & coordination; drafting material as information to be presented to external stakeholders, commissions, and industry conventions. Support regulatory requests for information as it relates to wildfire mitigation plans. Attend company meetings and briefings and support Emergency Preparedness for Power Grid Operations beyond wildfire mitigation as necessary.
