Nordson Polymer Processing Systems (PPS) designs and manufactures industrial equipment used to melt and give shape to plastic materials. Our products include pelletizing and filtration systems, extrusion dies, and recycling equipment that enables our customers to transform waste into purified reusable raw material. The Buyer is responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment, and services to support manufacturing and customer needs. Assignments involve problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of supplier performance or capability. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities * Review open requirements, monitor supplier performance, and resolve exception messages generated by MRP. * Assure that Purchase Orders are entered into and updated in an accurate, complete, and timely manner. * Assure that problems relating to delivery, quality or pricing are promptly conveyed to suppliers and resolved in a timely manner. * Continually work with the supplier base to improve quality, lead-times, delivery, and costs. * Respond timely to all requests from the production department for support and assistance. Provide timely information to customer service department regarding spares and backorder inquiries. * Work with Engineering & Quality to troubleshoot problems with prints, material types, materials needed, vendor issues, engineering changes, assembly discrepancies. * Maintains reports requested from purchasing manager. * Updates purchase order pricing and delivery in ERP system. * Plans, coordinates, and facilitates regular business reviews with suppliers and internal business partners. * Fosters and maintain positive working relationships with vendor base. * Works on opportunities with vendors to provide solutions-stocking programs, vmi (on site), cost-savings, growth, etc. * Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate. * Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, service, and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels. * As required, monitors the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. * Recommends cost saving proposals. * Establish score cards for vendors on performance metrics. * Meet or exceed metrics: - Lead time reduction - Supplier On Time Performance - Cost and Quality Management - Scheduling Agreement / Vendor Managed Inventory Additions * Other duties may be assigned as required. Education and Experience Requirements * Requires 2-4 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent education and experience. * Bachelor\'s degree in supply chain management, business, logistics, or related field preferred.
