Neuberger Berman Developer III in Chicago, Illinois

The Neuberger Berman Fixed Income Technology team is looking for a Python Data Engineer with proven experience in building data pipelines and visualizations. An ideal candidate would have worked in the financial industry and have a good grasp on Fixed Income asset classes and concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Portfolio managers, Quant and Research analysts to gather and refine specifications and requirements based on their needs.

  • Collaborate with software engineers and lead the effort to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions for projects.

  • Conduct data warehouse model design, development, cleanse, validate datasets and set up processes for monitoring and reporting.

  • Design and develop intuitive and engaging data visualizations using Tableau/Python, enabling stakeholders to grasp complex data insights easily.

  • Assist data troubleshooting, data featuring and data discovery.

  • Partner with Application Service Delivery group who have accountability for Delivery & Service Management for software deployment and support.

  • Must be highly organized with the ability to effectively prioritize work.

  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent industry experience.

  • 5+ years experience as a Data Engineer, Software Developer, or similar role.

  • Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and ETL processes.

  • Experience in developing interactive dashboards for data visualization and analysis using libraries such as Dash or Streamlit.

  • Proficient in Python. Advanced knowledge of Pandas, NumPy and Plotly. Experience with Dash/Flask/Django/FastAPI is a plus.

  • Proficient with SQL, Data modelling and database design.

  • Experience with Snowflake.

  • Advanced skills in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, demonstrating the ability to translate complex datasets into clear and actionable insights.

  • Experience or knowledge of various Fixed Income instruments is good to have (e.g. U.S. Treasuries, Investment Grade, High Yield, EMD, Mortgages, Sovereign Debt / Government Bonds, and Corporate Bonds).

  • Cloud Experience with either Azure/AWS/Google is a plus.

  • Intellectual curiosity and passion for solving challenging problems using technology.

  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment a plus.

  • Strong desire to learn new programming languages quickly.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong sense of professional pride and individual accountability.
