Job Description:

Under light supervision, creates basic to moderately complex engineering designs including: HVAC systems master planning & studies; HVAC & Plumbing systems; Mechanical systems (co-generation); sustainability/energy efficiency/renewable energy/green buildings; etc.. Develops white papers and technical documentation to support the firm's Total Knowledge Management (TKM).

Duties & Responsibilities

Engineering Design/Development

Under light supervision, creates engineering designs including: HVAC systems master planning & studies; HVAC & Plumbing systems; mechanical systems (co-generation); sustainability/energy efficiency/renewable energy/green buildings; etc. of basic to moderate complexity to meet client project requirements. Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.

Site Reviews

Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary.

Technical Knowledge Management (TKM)

Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.. Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.

Technical Luminescence

Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.

Other

Performs other duties as required.

Technical Guidance

Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Reviews the work of more junior staff.

Skills & Abilities

Familiar with HVAC System design calculations including cooling and heating load calculations, Fan static pressure calculations, pump head calculations, Air distribution system design, Chilled/Hot water piping design..etc.

Proficient user of REVIT, AutoCAD MEP, Trace 3D Plus, HAP, eQuest, and Navisworks software’s.

Familiar with ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA codes and standards.

LEED and Energy modeling knowledge is an added advantage.

HVAC Controls and Building management system knowledge is an added advantage.

Plumbing and Fire protection knowledge is an added advantage.

Exposure to Geothermal cooling and loop design is an added advantage.

Exposure to Energy Management and Energy Auditing (ASHRAE Level I, II & III) is an added advantage.

Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
