Your day at NTT DATA

The Senior Manager of Data Centre Construction Project Management is a senior leadership role responsible for planning, executing, and managing data centre construction projects. This position involves leading project teams, collaborating with cross-functional groups, managing resources, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

What you'll be doing

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of data centre construction projects, including new builds, expansions, and renovations.

  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.

  • Allocate and manage project resources, including personnel, contractors, materials, and equipment.

  • Optimize resource utilization to ensure cost-effective project delivery.

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to project teams, ensuring that data centre facility designs align with operational, security, scalability, and sustainability requirements.

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants to implement best practices.

  • Manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and report financial performance.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and work to optimize project spending.

  • Identify potential risks associated with data centre construction projects and develop comprehensive risk mitigation strategies.

  • Proactively address issues to minimize project disruptions.

  • Establish and enforce rigorous quality control measures to ensure that construction work adheres to design specifications, industry standards, and best practices.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and executive leadership to align data centre construction projects with organizational goals and priorities.

  • Provide regular updates on project status and milestones.

  • Select, negotiate with, and manage external vendors, suppliers, and construction contractors to ensure compliance with project requirements and timelines.

  • Administer contracts and change orders.

  • Promote and enforce safety protocols, environmental responsibility, and sustainability practices in data centre construction projects.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires conceptual thinking and an in-depth knowledge of organisational objectives

  • Sets operational objectives, policies, procedures and work plans

  • Proven ability to contribute to performance strategies that drive operational excellence and business outcomes

  • Profound knowledge of data centre facilities, infrastructure, best practices, and industry standards

  • Strong technical understanding of electrical systems, HVAC, cooling technologies, networking, and security systems relevant to data centre construction

  • Effective leadership and team management skills, including experience in managing cross-functional teams

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration, stakeholder management, and reporting

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to address complex challenges

  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends and best practices.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering or related

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is preferred

Required Experience:

  • Extended experience gained in a similar role within a global IT services organisation

  • Extended experience in project management methodologies, tools, and practices

  • Extended experience managing data centre construction projects

  • Extended experience managing and leading data construction project resources
