Job Summary:

 

EWU is seeking an Emergency Management Coordinator. This is a new position for EWU . Under general direction of the Chief of Police, the Emergency Management (EM) Coordinator establishes procedures for developing, monitoring, analyzing, and updating university and university organization plans, disaster preparedness and general university training programs (including coordination on hazard identification and mitigation policies and protocols). The Emergency Management Coordinator is essential in planning for and responding to emergency events, and in creating a culture of preparedness where employees and students are safe and prepared in their work and living environments. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our campus safety and well-being.

 

• Provides training to faculty, staff and students in emergency preparedness and disaster response procedures including training in Emergency Operations Center procedures, the Incident Command System (ICS ), and the National Incident Management System (NIMS ).

• Works with university leadership to enhance capacity to respond to and recover from all hazards.

• Provides support for EWU departments, colleges, areas, and divisions to support compliance with the Emergency Response component of the university Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP ).

• Solicits input from EWU entities and whole community stakeholders, analyzes the responses, and updates various policies, procedures, and plans as needed, to meet State of Washington Emergency Management Division (EMD ), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA ), US Department of Homeland Security (DHS ), and US Department of Education (DOE ) guidelines.
